First Baptist Church Arnold, as a Strategy Coordinator Church,
has the challenge of taking Gospel to an area of Central Mexico which has been defined by the International Mission Board as “Mexico’s Heart of Darkness”. Less than two percent of the people living in this region will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our objective is to “Shine the Light of Christ” into these dark corners of Mexico.
Mexico’s Heart of Darkness
It was just over five years ago that FBC Arnold accepted a challenge by the International Mission Board to be the Missionary to the region of Ciudad Del Maiz in Central Mexico. During the initial vision/exploration journeys only one vital Evangelical Church was found; Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in the village of Palomas, and they had just lost their pastor.
During these years we have seen God work in a mighty way. We have given Glory to God as He sent Pastor Mateo Hernandez to plant the church in the principal city of Cd del Maiz. We have celebrated with the church in Palomas, for Pastor Carlos Gonzalez, who God sent to be their Pastor. We have watched in wonderment as God raised up young men as bi-vocational missionaries to plant churches in six of these remote mountain villages.
We have also seen a para-church organization, The Timothy Project, emerge to support FBCA in their work in Cd Del Maiz and to mobilize other churches, and helping them take the Light of Christ into this spiritually dark area of Mexico. We have seen God work in the lives of Jack and Sheri Thomas, FBC Arnold missionaries, who are now full time faith-based missionaries at The Timothy Project campus in Palmillas.
We could not have seen God do His Mighty Work if it were not for scores from FBC Arnold who have been obedient to His call to GO and for hundreds who have been faithful in their Prayers for the lost in Mexico’s Heart of Darkness. Would you pray about what God would have you do about being part of His Harvest in Mexico’s Heart of Darkness?
