Open Sewing Class

NEW sewing class option.  You can bring your sewing machine and work on a project that you need help completing.  Georgia will help you learn the operation of your machine if needed and be available to answer questions as you work through the project.  If there is a project the current beginning sewing class is doing that you would like to do, send an email to so she can alert Georgia of the project you want to do and get the list of supplies you will need to you.  Make sure to bring your own basic sewing supplies for whatever project you choose – thread, clear ruler, scissors, seam ripper and anything else you normally use.

This class is a way of building your sewing skills without a long term commitment.  The cost is $10 per class and you will pay when you arrive for class.  The only thing you need to do prior to coming is alert Trina at the email above that you are coming.  We don’t want to end up with more than we have room for in the class!

Come try it out!  This is in response to appeals for help on individual projects.  The “drop in classes” are currently available on Monday nights, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, beginning April 1st through May 6th.

Embroidery 101 Class

Beginning Sewing Class

In this 8 week basic sewing class Georgialee will start by teaching you (or reviewing with you depending on your experience) the basics of your machine – how to thread the needle, load a bobbin, change the tension and stitch length etc.  Georgialee is knowledgeable about most machines and will also be able to troubleshoot any issues with your machine as you begin working on the projects.  Each project is designed to give you a chance to try a variety of techniques such as putting in a zipper, sewing on a button with the machine, learning how to use various styles of stitching including decorative stitch if your machine is equipped with those plus learn how to use and understand a pattern.

You will be making a coin purse, shopping bag, coaster for a stemmed glass, microwave bowl holder, a quilt, a cute little bunny and a peg basket.  You will also be working with a pattern of your choice to create a project “on your own” with Georgialee’s help and advice.
