The Davidson Family Life Center offers a variety of arts and crafts classes for all ages. Our classes range from jewelry, oil painting, paper crafting, scrap booking, and a variety of special event classes throughout the year.
Pre-registration is required for all events to assure adequate supplies and seating.
Online registration requires payment at time of registration. All Oil Painting classes are taught by Trina Stephens, a Dorothy Dent Certified Instructor.
A flier with supply list is available in the FLC one month prior to each class.
Beginners are welcome in all classes.

These classes are open for beginning and experienced painters who are at least 14 years old. Beginners will learn basic color mixing, brush strokes, color values, etc. while experienced students will improve their painting skills. In these classes Trina will do the same painting along with you, and you will be able to watch her brush strokes on large monitors at the front of the room. Trina circulates through the room frequently making sure everyone understands the techniques and no one gets left behind. You will learn to paint while having a relaxing, fun time in our "stress free zone" known by most as the art room.
Tuesday Night Class
These classes are designed for those who have no (or limited) oil painting experience. However, advanced students are welcome. The instructor is patient with beginners and questions are always welcome. The instructions are provided clearly and repeated as often as needed for everyone to hear and understand the next step. Trina will paint along with you and you can see her strokes on big screens at the front of the room. Come on and join the fun!
These classes are designed for students age 14 and older. You do not have to have prior painting experience in order to take these classes. For each Saturday class you will complete the painting shown by the end of the day. Trina will paint the painting with you. As she demonstrates techniques you will be able to see her brush strokes on large screens at the front of the room.
This 18 x 24 palette knife painting of a mountain scene will be painted over the two days. Beginners who are at least 14 years of age are welcome. At the end of the first day we’ll leave everything set up so we are ready to start painting first thing on the second day. Friday and Saturday will each be 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM days.
These classes are designed for home school children age 10 and older. Beginning children are welcome in every session. In these classes the children will learn about color mixing, brush strokes, color value and perspective while completing an oil painting. ART PARTIESIn this classes Carmen will be teaching simple acrylic paintings that can be completed in two hours. This is a great time to grab some friends and have a fun night out! Never painted before? No worries! Carmen will be there to help every step of the way.
Saturday ScrapbookingCome join us for a full day of scrapbooking fun!Dina Lanzendorf from Stampin’ Up will have supplies you can use, limited products for purchase and be available help you get started or offer suggestions. You’ll have a full table to spread your supplies on and will receive a light breakfast and lunch prepared by our catering staff. The cost for this day is $20. Space is limited. Flower Pincushion WorkshopYou will not need a sewing machine for this class. Instead, bring a glue gun and basic sewing supplies. The cost is $15 for the class and $15 for the kit.Purse Sewing ClassSaturday, September 8, 2018, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Cost is $25 for the class and $25 for the kit.
