The Davidson Family Life Center offers a variety of arts and crafts classes for all ages. Our classes range from acrylic painting, oil painting, paper crafting, and scrapbooking.
Pre-registration is required for all events to assure adequate supplies and seating.
Online registration requires payment at time of registration.
Beginners are welcome in all classes.

These classes are open for beginning and experienced painters who are at least 14 years old. Beginners will learn basic color mixing, brush strokes, color values, etc. while experienced students will improve their painting skills. In these classes Trina will do the same painting along with you, and you will be able to watch her brush strokes on large monitors at the front of the room. Trina circulates through the room frequently making sure everyone understands the techniques and no one gets left behind. You will learn to paint while having a relaxing, fun time in our "stress free zone" known by most as the art room.
Tuesday Night Class
These classes are designed for those who have no (or limited) oil painting experience. However, advanced students are welcome. The instructor is patient with beginners and questions are always welcome. The instructions are provided clearly and repeated as often as needed for everyone to hear and understand the next step. Trina will paint along with you and you can see her strokes on big screens at the front of the room. Come on and join the fun!
These classes are designed for students age 14 and older. You do not have to have prior painting experience in order to take these classes. For each Saturday class you will complete the painting shown by the end of the day. Trina will paint the painting with you. As she demonstrates techniques you will be able to see her brush strokes on large screens at the front of the room.
This 18 x 24 palette knife painting of a mountain scene will be painted over the two days. Beginners who are at least 14 years of age are welcome. At the end of the first day we’ll leave everything set up so we are ready to start painting first thing on the second day. Friday and Saturday will each be 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM days.
These classes are designed for home school children age 10 and older. Beginning children are welcome in every session. In these classes the children will learn about color mixing, brush strokes, color value and perspective while completing an oil painting. In these classes Carmen will be teaching simple acrylic paintings that can be completed in two hours. This is a great time to grab some friends and have a fun night out! Never painted before? No worries! Carmen will be there to help every step of the way.
In these classes Carmen will be teaching simple signs
that are easy to do, but look professional. Some months there is only one
sign and other months there are two to choose from. When you register,
you will indicate your selection so that Carmen can have everything you need to
complete these signs.
Saturday ScrapbookingCome join us for a full day of scrapbooking fun!Rebecca Brown from Close to My Heart will have limited supplies you may borrow throughout the day, products for purchase and will be available help you get started or offer suggestions. You’ll have a full table to spread your supplies on and will receive a light breakfast and lunch prepared by our catering staff. The cost for this day is $20. Space is limited. [REGISTER HERE]

NEW sewing class option. You can bring your sewing machine
and work on a project that you need help completing. Georgia will help
you learn the operation of your machine if needed and be available to answer
questions as you work through the project. If there is a project the
current beginning sewing class is doing that you would like to do, send an
email to firstname.lastname@example.org so
she can alert Georgia of the project you want to do and get the list of
supplies you will need to you. Make sure to bring your own basic sewing supplies for
whatever project you choose – thread, clear ruler, scissors, seam ripper and
anything else you normally use.This class is a way of building your sewing skills without a
long term commitment. The cost is $10 per class and you will pay when you
arrive for class. The only thing you need to do prior to coming is alert
Trina at the email above that you are coming. We don’t want to end up
with more than we have room for in the class!Come try it out! This is in response to appeals for help
on individual projects. The “drop in classes” are currently available on
Monday nights, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, beginning April 1st through May 6th.
This is a beginning class for
embroidery. Sundaye Lubinski will teach you how to do six different
embroidery stitches over the two nights. You will also add a design for
each stitch to a simple sampler showing all the stitches. The cost of
only $20 makes this class very affordable. Come join us and learn a new
craft a create a wall hanging!
this 8 week basic sewing class Georgialee will start by teaching you (or
reviewing with you depending on your experience) the basics of your machine –
how to thread the needle, load a bobbin, change the tension and stitch length
etc. Georgialee is knowledgeable about most machines and will also be
able to troubleshoot any issues with your machine as you begin working on the
projects. Each project is designed to give you a chance to try a variety
of techniques such as putting in a zipper, sewing on a button with the machine,
learning how to use various styles of stitching including decorative stitch if
your machine is equipped with those plus learn how to use and understand a
will be making a coin purse, shopping bag, coaster for a stemmed glass,
microwave bowl holder, a quilt, a cute little bunny and a peg basket. You
will also be working with a pattern of your choice to create a project “on your
own” with Georgialee’s help and advice.
